My brand new CK Model, which joins the more traditional Model as an alternative, is the result of research that engaged me in recent years.
The project starts from the will to experiment the enlargement of the soundboard vibrant area. This kind of trick – certainly not new – was adopted by some luthiers as early as the 19th Century and on, up until today; but in my project I adopt completely unprecedented and exclusive bracing and construction solutions.
In order to enhance the vibrating surface, I have totally removed the central hole, replacing it with two classic holes on the side of the fingerboard; at the same time two curved bars in carbon fibre, really stiff and covered in fir, create a surface vibrating as a membrane.
A supporting cross shaped carbon fibre structure, fitted on the bands, together with the strong bars, is designed to concentrate the energy of strings on the soundboard strain. The soundboard is calibrated starting from a high thickness in the bridge area, (searching of both the body and the classic timbre, as well as the general balance of the instrument), which gradually fades to the borders (contributing to a very low-pitched note of the case, with deep bass and promptness of attack).
The result is an instrument with a rigid case and a highly vibrant soundboard. A really resonant, expressive, depth sounded instrument, with contemporary aesthetic and presence.
